Ormond Aster
Tarban of the Infinite Labyrinth

Pooka Grump
Resident Bull Pooka of Critternation

Description

Mortal Seeming
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 250 lb.
Ethnicity: White
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Short simple brown
Clothing: Gray and brown casual
Comportment/Cadence: Threatening
Distinctions: This massive hulk of a hirsute man imposes wherever he may roam; a menace lurks seemingly unintentionally in his easy smile, and the twinkle in his wandering eyes suggest more than innocent mischief; and why won't he take that hat off?!
Supernatural Qualities: The reason for the hat would become obvious if removed: he has horns, honest-to-goodness steer-like horns rising from his scalp; his upper earlobes also flap over a bit
Accoutrements: A fedora hat (he weaves an illusion with Legerdemain if he loses the hat)
Traits: Appearance 2; Intimidation, Animalistic Features (3)

Fae Mien
Height: 7'6"
Weight: 350 lb.
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown fur
Clothing: Brown simple (loincloth only)
Comportment/Cadence: Threatening
Supernatural Qualities: Gone is the strange but mostly human-looking fellow, and Ormond adopts the creature of nightmares and myth: the minotaur; a bipedal man-bull, his black-skinned but hair-covered body ripples with fantastic muscle, visible plumes of steamy breath blasts from his bullish nostrils, and the eyes brim with cursed fury: Ormond is often lost in the fantasies of the labyrinth chase, which makes everyone else...the prey
Accoutrements: Enchanted rings around the bases of his horns; a labrys (double-headed battleaxe) with a leather thong to keep it "holstered" across his back, and composite scale mail (if expecting battle)
Traits: Appearance 2; Intimidation

Animal Form
Height: 9'6"
Weight: 2,400 lb.
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown fur
Supernatural Qualities: In Ormond's truest of forms, he is a common bovine, a bull with reddish-brown fur, similar to other Afrikaner/sanga breeds of cattle: large and powerful, aggressive and dangerous
Traits: Appearance 2; Intimidation

"I’m giving you a head start. On the count of 3, start screaming in futility."

History

Date of Birth: April 2nd, 1966
Home: Goodwood, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa
Family: Bern and Johanika Aster (parents), Elani (step-mother)
Chrysalis: Preordainment (Ormond was always a "big boy", and he was such a freakishly large and somewhat deformed child that his mother suffered internal injuries giving birth and died; his father later remarried but had no more children, and he was raised ignorant of the circumstances, especially since surgery "corrected" the cranial malformations; though he was never much of a student, he excelled at rugby, but did get hooked on learning about one thing: mythology; in fact, he lost himself in the myth of the Minotaur, and it sparked his latent Pooka soul while daydreaming in bed), 1979
Mentor: Lateef Younger
The Test: Trial by Influence (the spark of Glamour attracted Cape Town commoners to come and collect the teen for his Fior-Righ; they discovered he never quite recovered from that initial burst of the Dreaming, forever lost in the myth-turned-real, and quite honestly they were all too afraid to really scold him back to a balance of the dream and reality: he had quite the bullish temper and the horns to go with it, even in his Seeming, rejecting the surgery done on him as an infant)
Comrades: Leah Kraut, Miriam Kraut, Daisy Aldred, Aasiya Bhatta, Nevaeh Pagey; Daisie "Dee-Dee" O'Murry, Rayne Gardner
Key Event #1: Personal Tragedy (Ormond's temper and delusions freaked his fellow fae out too much, in fact, and in just a few short years, before he finished school, the other fae had all but driven him out of the Cape)
Key Event #2: Personal Tragedy (the unofficial exile hit young Ormond hard, and he ran away from home and fled east, ending up in Durban; over the next three decades, he lived on the fringes of "polite" fae society, haunting sewer tunnels below and suburban hedge mazes and gardens above)
Transition: Loss of Companions (Ormond was more lucid than many realized; he knew he was not the true Minotaur and that he did not live in a fantasy world...but he wanted to, and to that end, as an outcast, he sought a true labyrinth to haunt; even so, his human desire for friends had him seek them out, and not always as successfully as he wished)

Remembrance

Magnitude: Far back to the time of ancient Greece, after the Sundering of course, but still the era of the Minoan Civilization...
Details: A memory this long is rich and vibrant, but Ormond finds it dominated by fantasies of him as the Minotaur, on Crete and beneath Knossos in the mythical Labyrinth, stalking sacrificial prey...

Chimera

Mazemaster Horn Rings
Appearance: Silver rings etched with ancient glyphs that fit neatly over the base of his two horns (and cannot be removed)

Activation: Automatic

Battleaxe
Appearance: An unadorned great labrys, the double-headed battle-axe mythologically associated with the Minoans
Origin: Inherent

Composite Scale Mail
Appearance: Layers of old but thick and sturdy leather and dull, blackened iron stitched together to form a scale-styled shirt, which protects the shoulders, upper arms, and his entire torso
Origin: Inherent

Weakness
Seeing Red

Ormond is not a bad guy, he's just temperamental and a little...confused. Combine that with his massive size, and it's clear why most people assume the worst. That in turn brings out the worst. You know what they say: you mess with the bull, you get...

Likelihood of Corruption

Average.

Ormond is not inherently wicked, nor is or would he ever willingly align with dark forces like the Shadow Court. He's as liable to attack a Thallain as he is an innocent Seelie Childling. It's his general befuddlement that's a problem.
