Chrysalis: Observed Injustice (he grew up on this African island country; his father was a ship captain/smuggler, and Balthasar learned of his family's long predilection for piracy even as a child, and eventually he was apprenticed to take over the family business, learning more of the myth behind the family's Oba heritage, bound not to ancient lands but an ancient line of ships, the Rane vessels named the Shabbak; during one such training journey, the American Navy attacked the Shabbak cruising yacht and in their attempt to flee, was sunk; the only survivor, clinging to debris, Balthasar Chrysalized and realized the truth of his fae nature and his binding to the Shabbak craft), 1994
